Miami Marlins links, 8/22/18: Fish fall in extras

Last night’s game:

Pablo López and Masahiro Tanaka each gave up only one run in six innings of work, and the score remained the same for five innings more before Miguel Andújar’s sacrifice fly in the 12th gave the Yankees the victory.

The lone Marlins run came on Austin Dean’s first home run at Marlins Park:

Giancarlo Stanton returned to Miami for the first time as a visitor and got a well-deserved standing O.

The Marlins also played this video of their former superstar:

Mattingly spoke after the game:

Elsewhere in Marlins’ Nation:

José Ureña withdrew his appeal regarding the suspension he received for hitting Ronald Acuña last week and will sit out six games. Conveniently, this will allow Ureña to miss the final series of the season with the Braves.

A couple Marlins are on the way back:

Starlin Castro could be on his way out of town: Craig Mish of SiriusXM reports that he has cleared revocable waivers. MLB Trade Rumors ranks him as the No. 19 August trade candidate, noting that the lack of contenders seeking help at second base makes him a more likely offseason target.

Marlins’ prospect Robert Dugger has been on a hot streak lately. Fellow Jumbo Shrimp Brian Schales is doing the same on offense.

Up next:

The Yanks and Fish conclude their two-game series today. Trevor Richards (3-7) faces Lance Lynn (8-8) at 7:10 p.m.
