From the Don't Do Dis files comes this picture of a recent shark catch -- a dandy that Mote Marine Laboratory shark expert, Dr. Robert Hueter, tentatively ID'd as a sandbar. The anglers reported the shark swam away in seemingly good shape, but they unintentionally violated at least four elements outlined in Florida's Shark-Smart Fishing protocols. Those are: Keep sharks, especially the gills, in the water, lest the shark be fatally injured. Never bring a shark onto a boat, pier or bridge, unless it is to be harvested for food. Minimize handling and release time, and don't delay releasing for the purpose of pictures. And "Do not sit on the shark's back." For more information, click here.
