11-year-old Maverick Yoakum is the state's most recent record-breaking angler by hooking a river redhorse fish using a rod and reel.
Paperwork is being finalized to establish the catch as a world record.
Andrew Branson with the state Conservation Department tells the Missourinet that the river redhorse fish are prevalent throughout waterways in the Ozarks.
Yoakum’s catch of a 10-pound, 3-ounce river redhorse breaks the previous world record of 9-pounds, 13 ounces for that fish.
The previous record holder was also a Missourian.
