The former Weeks Fish Camp in Bonita Springs is being purchased by a residential developer, according to the property's broker.
Next week London Bay Homes, based in Naples, is set to close on a 30-acre property that includes the old fish camp, said Doug Meschko, director of market research and a broker for Land Solutions.
The Land Solutions website lists the property's current asking price at $21.9 million. It describes the site as "ideal for boating and luxury waterfront living."
The developer has yet to release its plans for the site, which are sure to attract public attention and scrutiny.
Weeks Fish Camp, which is on Estero Bay and leads to the Gulf of Mexico, was a public boat launch when it was under the ownership of the Weeks family.
London Bay Homes is aware of the community's request for public water access at the site, said Tina Matte, a spokeswoman for the developer.
“It is our intention to work with the community to make that happen,” Matte said. “We just don’t know what it looks like yet.”
London Bay Homes, known for residential developments such as Mediterra in Collier County and Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club in Lee County, has no plans to follow through with a full-scale marina and plans to submit a rezoning application by the end of the year, Matte said.

The Weeks family sold its land to Estero Bay Marine LLC for $2.15 million in 2011.
Since then the site has been in limbo.
A 2014 plan for the fish camp called for 72 wet boat slips, dry storage for 150 boats, a marine outfitter and a three-story seafood restaurant overlooking Estero Bay.
London Bay Homes is hosting private meetings with nearby gated communities to gain input as it moves forward with any projects, Matte said.
Public meetings will follow later this year, she said.
Jim Weeks, a former owner of Weeks Fish Camp, said he is unsettled by the developer's use of private meetings, including one to be held at Pelican Landing. Residents of that gated community would share Coconut Road with the London Bay Homes site.
“Is Pelican Landing going to decide everyone’s fate?” said Weeks, who has pushed for the city to maintain water access at the old fish camp. “I know Pelican Landing (wants public water access), but they’re only one part of the public.”
