Friday fish fries are back in the Lansing area, here's where to find them

Friday fish fries during Lent are a tradition. And who doesn't love a good fish fry?

These dinners are popular, so it's a good idea to get there early. Dinners are open to the public and most places offer takeout dinners.

Here are some local churches and organizations that are offering up some of the best fish in town. If one of your favorites is missing just send us an email and we'll update the list.

Knights of Columbus Council 788 Fish Fry, 4-7 p.m.

Knights of Columbus Council 788, 5300 N. Grand River, Lansing.

Fridays through March 30. The menu includes fried and baked pollack, smelt, macaroni and cheese, baked potatoes, french fries, coleslaw and a dinner roll.

Cost is $10 from 5-7 p.m. and $9 from 4-5 p.m.

DeWitt Knights of Columbus Annual All-you-can-eat Lenten Fish Fry,

DeWitt Knights of Columbus, 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt

Fridays through March 23. The menu includes fried pollock, baked cod, baked potato, french fries, macaroni and cheese, breadstick and coleslaw.

Cost is $10 for seniors, $11 for adults with a $10 early bird special from 4-5 p.m., $5 for ages 12 and under and a family special of $35. Take-out dinners are available for $10 per dinner. 

Friday Fish Fries During Lent, 5-8 p.m. 

Stephen W. Frank American Legion Post #269, 1485 Haslett Road, Haslett

Dinner menu consists of two pieces of battered cod, macaroni and cheese or baked potato or fries, cole slaw and roll. Public welcome. Additional free parking is available at Vision Collision, 1510 Haslett Road, Haslett (next to the Haslett Post Office).

Cost is adults $9.75; $7 (65-plus and kids 7 and under). Dessert and beverage extra. For more information, contact 339-9018. 

Friday Night Lent Fish Dinners, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Messiah Lutheran Church, 5740 Holt Road, Holt

Fridays through March 23. Menu includes fish (baked or fried), hot dogs, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese, green beans, coleslaw, rolls and butter, homemade pies and other desserts, beverages: coffee or punch. Ten percent of the profits will be donated to the Holt Community Food Bank and other local charitable organizations.

Cost is $11, $10 for seniors (60-plus), $6 for ages 5-10 and free for ages under 5. Take-out available. For more information, contact Leslie Soule at 974-5680 or the church at 694-1280. 

Winter/Lenten Fish Dinner, 4:30-7 p.m.

St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing St., Mason

Served up by the Mason Council #9182 Knights of Columbus Friday nights through March 23. Dinners include baked and fried codfish, shrimp, baked potato or french fries, coleslaw, green beans, dinner roll, macaroni and cheese and a dessert selection. Proceeds are used for many church, community, youth and local charity projects and youth scholarships. 

Cost is $11 for seniors, $12 regular dinner with extra fish a la carte.

Friday Lent Fish Fry, 4-7 p.m.

Knights of Columbus, 1108 N. U.S.-27, St. Johns

Public welcome. Menu includes au gratin potatoes, baked potatoes, steak fries, green beans, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, applesauce, roll and dessert, water, coffee and punch, all-you-can-eat. Zero trans fat oil used.

Cost is $10, $5 for ages 12 and under. Early bird from 4-4:30 p.m. is 50 cents off. For take-outs, call (989) 224-1225. 

VFW Fish Friday Fry, 4-7 p.m.

There will be all-you-can-eat fish fries Fridays, Feb. 9-March 30, at the VFW Post 671, 1250 S. US-27, DeWitt. Cost is $9; kids under age 8 eat free. Menu includes fried pollock, choice of French fries or home fries, coleslaw and a roll.

Dessert can be purchased for an additional $1. The bar will be open to the public.

Fish dinners by KofC and Christian Mothers, 4-7 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus and Christian Mothers will be sponsoring fish dinners Fridays, Feb. 23 and March 9, at the Most Holy Trinity Activity Center, 11159 W. Kent St.,Fowler. Menu includes baked and fried fish, baked and scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese, salad, vegetables, dinner rolls, dessert and beverages.

Cost is $10 per adult, $5 per child ages 6-10 and free for children 5 and under. Take-out orders are $10 each.

KoC Fish Fry Fridays, 5-7 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus Council 7311 is hosting an all-you-can-eat fish fry open to the public every Friday until March 23, at Michael Church, 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge. Cost is $9 per adult, $7 per senior ages 62 or older, $6 per kid ages 6-12 and free for kids 5 and under.

Take-outs are available. The school PTO offers desserts and cheese pizza by the slice for a separate charge.
