A RUSSIAN fisherman famous for netting alien-looking sea creatures has revealed his latest catch of the day - this slimy, red-eyed "zombie fish".
Trawlerman Roman Fyodorov's photographs include scaly monsters which look straight out of Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The latest addition to his collection includes the shark-like creature, fresh from the dark, icy depths of the Arctic Ocean.
And Fyodorov insists his new bug-eyed friend is, in fact, a " very famous and delicious fish."
The startling image has made a big impression on the fisherman's 280,000 followers on Instagram.
User Abraham_multimedia commented: "Spooky red eyes!!!"
Nannahbear asked: "Who hit the poor thing, lol!"
Fyodorovhe fishes in the ocean's "twilight zone", which is between 660 to 3,300 feet (200 to 1,000 metres) below the surface.
Also known as the Mesopelagic zone, it has produced an array of weird and wonderful sea creatures rarely seen by humans.
Fyodorov's is in charge of fish processing on his boat, which means he gets to see all kinds of marine life and regularly posts photos of the more unusual creatures found in the nets.
He said: "Followers get an idea that every time we pull up a net it is full of extraordinary fish. In reality it is not true. It happens rarely.
"I think all fish are beautiful in their own way. I can’t say that some are ugly or monstrous."
