SANIBEL: Blind Pass, including the Turner Beach shoreline on the Captiva Island side, has been the island hot spot for snook, trout, black drum, mackerel, and small redfish, according to Norm Zeigler's Fly, Bait & Tackle. Trout fishing for shore-cased anglers has been good on both sides of San Carlos Bay, off the "Billboard Flat" along the causeway approach, and at the Bailey Beach and Dixie Beach access points on Sanibel. Anglers fishing Wildlife Drive (closed Fridays) in the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge have been hooking juvenile tarpon and mostly undersized snook. And anglers at the Sanibel Pier are having trouble getting a shrimp past all the sheepshead reported there.
